Stephen Appiah to Join Black Stars’ New Management Committee

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is set to unveil a restructured management team for the Black Stars, signaling a fresh start after recent disappointments.

This move follows the dissolution of the previous committee, which was deemed necessary after the team’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco and back-to-back group-stage exits in the 2023 tournament in Ivory Coast.

The reconstitution aims to bring experienced leadership to the table, with Dr. Randy Abbey poised to take the chairman role.

Former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah, along with FC Samartex president Dr. Richard Duah Nsenkyire and Greater Accra Regional Football Association chairman Samuel Aboabire, are among the notable names expected to contribute to this revamped structure.

Beyond management changes, the GFA is exploring the addition of a technical director to work alongside head coach Otto Addo, reflecting a broader strategy to enhance the team’s performance.

With the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on the horizon, the focus has shifted to meticulous preparation and restoring the team’s competitive edge.

The Black Stars face crucial matches against Chad and Madagascar in March, presenting a golden opportunity to rebuild momentum and reaffirm their status as a powerhouse in African football.
