West Ham have confirmed that Michail Antonio has undergone surgery following a severe car accident on Saturday.
The Jamaica international had to be airlifted to the hospital after being cut from the wreckage, and the club revealed he suffered a “lower limb fracture.” The injury is expected to sideline the 34-year-old for a significant period, casting doubts on his return to professional football.
According to The Guardian, Antonio could miss at least a year of action, ruling him out for the remainder of the 2024/25 season. While the best-case scenario involves 12 months of rehabilitation, there are concerns that this injury might end his career.
